In this course, you will gain skills needed to build, maintain, troubleshoot, and support hardware and software technology. A CompTIA Server+ certification will validate your knowledge of server issues and technology, including disaster recovery. You will build solid, foundational knowledge of the different types of server hardware and best practices and procedures for setting up and maintaining the technology.

1. System Hardware

• System board types, features, components, and their purposes
• Deploying different chassis types and the appropriate components
• Differentiating between memory features/types and selecting appropriate memory
• Importance of a Hardware Compatibility List (HCL)
• Differentiating between processor features/types and selecting the appropriate processor
• Installing appropriate expansion cards into a server while taking fault tolerance into consideration
• Installing, updating, and configuring appropriate firmware

2. System Software

• Installing, deploying, configuring, and updating NOS (Windows / *nix)
• NOS security software and its features
• Implementing and administering NOS management features based on procedures and guidelines

3. Server Functions and Network Essentials

• Different server roles, their purpose and how they interact
• Server virtualization concepts, features, and considerations
• Common elements of networking essentials

4. Storage

• RAID technologies and its features and benefits
• Selecting the appropriate RAID level
• Installing and configuring different internal storage technologies
• Purpose of external storage technologies

5. IT Environment

• Writing, utilizing, and maintaining documentation, diagrams, and procedures
• Purpose of industry best practices
• Appropriate physical environment for the server location
• Implementing and configuring different methods of server access
• Classifying physical security measures for a server location

6. Disaster Recovery

• Comparing and contrasting backup and restoration methodologies, media types, and concepts
• Comparing and contrasting the different types of replication methods
• Data retention and destruction concepts
