The CCDA certification (Cisco Certified Design Associate) indicates a foundation or apprentice knowledge of network design for the Cisco Internetwork Infrastructure. CCDA certified professionals can design routed and switched network infrastructures involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services for businesses and organizations.

This course introduces principles and guidelines for building an effective network design that addresses such challenges. The course begins with an overview of the Cisco Network Architecture for the Enterprise, which enables customers to build a more intelligent infrastructure. The course also describes how to gather customer requirements and identify business and technical constraints using the Cisco Lifecycle Services process. Because many customers build on an existing network, the module also presents methods of characterizing the existing network. The course concludes with a discussion of the design implementation process, including prototypes, actual implementation, and verification of the design solution.
