Excellence in Information Technology Education

Miles MurdoccaAbout Miles Murdocca

I am the Director of the Internet Institute USA program in New Jersey. After earning a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 1982, I took a position in the Visual Communications Research Department at AT&T Bell Labs (now Lucent Technologies) in Holmdel, New Jersey. Thanks to an environment at Bell Labs that supported academic advancement, I earned my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rutgers University in New Brunswick while working at Bell Labs.

I left Bell Labs to pursue a research faculty position as an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at Rutgers University in 1989, doing research in optical computing, optical interconnects, computer architecture, and networking. I served as a founder of the Rutgers University Internet Institute (RUII) program, with a charter of providing noncredit continuing education in information technology.

The RUII program led to the founding of Internet Institute USA (IIUSA) which is where I now work.

IIUSA has state licensed schools that operate in Arizona and New Jersey, and provides Government training throughout the USA. IIUSA offers courses that lead to college credit through the University of Phoenix. We offer instructor-led learning, hybrid (blended) learning, and distance learning formats.

You can find info on some of my past publications, patents, and research projects, and my teaching interests, at http://milesmurdocca.com.
